Regrettably, John Hoffman’s five-volume opus on the life of legendary South American liberator and children’s book author Granblaniar has not yet found a publisher.

If Penguin hadn’t pushed out its own slapdash tie-in paperback to coincide with the megahit summer biopic about the general — “A Man Too Far” (with Hugh Grant and Angela Lansbury) — things undoubtedly would have been different. But who can fight public tastes?
